The Africa Passage was founded by a trio of visionary directors who share a unified passion for connecting the world to the authentic heart of Africa. Bringing together decades of combined experience in tourism, logistics, and cultural preservation, our leadership team is dedicated to curating journeys that go beyond the ordinary. Their collective expertise ensures that every trip is not only seamlessly executed but also deeply respectful of the local communities and environments we explore.

Co-Founder | U.S.–Africa Bridge Strategist
Clement Gumbo
Born in Zimbabwe and now based in the United States, Clement has spent his life navigating two worlds. Living and building in America while returning to Zimbabwe multiple times each year, he recognized a gap: The Africa portrayed internationally is rarely the Africa experienced locally. Through years of travel, land exposure, and cross-continental relationships, CJ envisioned a platform that would allow others to experience Southern Africa through an authentic, structured lens. The Africa Passage is the realization of that vision.

Co-Founder | Generational Bridge Builder
Rev. Dr. John Gumbo
For decades, Dr. John Gumbo has led groups from the United States to Zimbabwe and Southern Africa. Church leaders. University delegations. Mission teams. Cultural explorers. Many visited. Some returned. Some relocated permanently. His lifelong work has centered on relationship-building, cultural exchange, and bridging understanding between continents. The Africa Passage builds upon that legacy — formalizing what has long been a passion to connect people to Africa responsibly.
